Pomeranians

Facts about Pomeranians

The breed’s name derives from Pomerania, the northern European region where they originated. Poms or Pom Poms are another nickname for them. These little canines, which weigh between 7 and 10 pounds, are descended from large sled dogs.

Poms may be little, but they aren’t necessarily timid and can pose a threat to larger dogs. While they make excellent apartment pets, they can be noisy, which your neighbors may not appreciate. You’ll have a loving, adorable furry family member if you give your dog enough of exercise and fun, keep them out of the sun, and give them lots of love and attention!

More Interesting Facts

Although the Pomeranian (also known as Zwergspitz, Dwarf Spitz, Loulou, or simply Pom) is tiny three to seven pounds, it has a personality the size of Texas!

The Pomeranian is the tiniest member of the Spitz dog family, which also includes the Samoyed, Alaskan Malamute, and Norwegian Elkhound.

Another interesting pomeranian facts is that they get their name from the German province of Pomerania. They gained popularity after Queen Victoria allowed several of her Pomeranians to compete in conformation shows for the first time, making them the first Pomeranians ever to compete.
